What a crazy day! Well en route to the ringing cell phone I crashed my foot into a chair trying to avoid the pillow maze on the floor (courtesy of Sierra). It soon began to throb in pain and I couldn't walk on it. Oh! was I frustrated! Well I kind of figured out it was the 2 far right toes on my right foot, so I put some ice on it. I couldn't even get up and move around without pain, so I set up a dr. appt. and asked my dad to take me. Sierra was pumped Mommy was going to the dr. and not her for once :). Well thankfully the kids are now in school, so the dr's office wasn't busy. I got right in and got an x-ray. All that to say it wasn't broken, just badly sprained. Truly I am grateful! You never know if you should wait it out and try to keep moving it or baby it and keep it up so you don't do more damage. Thankfully it should back to normal within a week and I can just hobble on my left side of my foot until it gets better. Are any of you accident prone like my precious daughter and I? I have a feeling we will meet our deductible every year - yikes!

OUCH! Jen, as I was looking at that picture, I was reminded of Chris Lemay's nickname for you-- _________ Toe! Although it didn't look that way to me :-)

I had a feeling the nickname would surface with this post. :) It still makes me laugh!

No way, woman!! I just did the exact same thing to the exact same toes on the exact same foot! Totally no way. I feel I should now emit the sound, "DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!"

Hey Jen--this story is humorous to me-b/c I broke my pinky toe about a month ago doing the same thing--totally mis-judged the area and walked right into the chair--OUCH! My toe is still fat and crooked!

oh you poor thing...I broke my toe this summer kicking a toy out of the way and slammed it in my cousin's heel. OUCH! Hope you're back on your foot soon!

You guys crack me up! The best part was holding an elastic band around my other 3 toes to bend them out of the way for the x-ray -contortion :). I think they wanted to check and see if the other 3 were on the verge of breaking too :).
Danna, I love the Duuude! Oh if we could just all reconnect like at those crazy singspirations. I recall a certain someone mooning Liesl I think at Huebschen's house :)
Hey Nicki & Carissa- what did they do for you when you broke it? I was wondering if they would try to splint it or put a whole boot on your foot. Hope "yous guys" (to quote the infamous yoopers) healed.:)

I am vvvvvvvvery accident prone but I never seem to seriously injure myself. Except one time when I was 8 and banged my head into a radiator while playing wrestling (GLOW - gorgeous ladies of wrestling to be more specific).

Now, what goes in the blank for chris' nickname?

I have to laugh. The dr. called me back Thur. night and said, "Oh by the way your pinky toe is broken. We missed it on the x-ray the first time we looked." Luckily, I just have to tape the 2 right toes together, but it's for a month instead of a week.

Alicia - and by the way, it's hairy toe. Yeah - you got to love every time you go to youth group and "Hairy toe" gets yelled across the room. :)

Jen,

Nice that the Dr. caught that it was actually broken. In Guam I was running a practice with the Faculty Women to play soccer against my high school girls team that I was coaching. I was having them dribble the ball and they asked me to show them how. So just as I was saying "This is how you do it", I came down on the ball instead of the ball and totally rolled my ankle. After some extreme pain my friend took me for x-rays. The Dr. pushed a bunch of areas and asked what level of pain it was. I told him. He said it couldn't be broken or I would be in more pain. Sure enough - broken. Add the 8 fingers I broke during college and I would say I'm accident prone too. :)

I'm vvvery accident prone too. I like, Alicia, never do anything serious, just always have bad bruises. Stephen's always asking where I get them from, but I never know because I'm always banging into something. Poor Esther! Hopefully she won't inherit my clumsiness. Although, I must say it's incresed since becoming a mother. I think it's because you're always trying to multi-task.

Sandra - Wow that had to be frustrating with playing volleyball & basketball - how did you do it?

Shannon - I bruise easily too. I'll find a bruise and not even know where it came from - normally b/c I got it while I was in a hurry.

Ha ha ha!!! I will have to tell my brother that he made your blog :) The funniest part is that I thought the same thing when I saw your foot....though not because it was hairy.

Too funny,.....singspirations. Good times, not quite the excitement level or the floor hockey end to every youth activity. Ahhh...I can just about smell Chris', Matt's, Rob's and Pastor Ken's sweat now :P

Jen, it was so good to see you on Thursday!!!
